The Road To The 2024 U.S. Army Bowl: Dillon Alfred

In the heart of Saraland, Alabama, a rising star is making waves on the football field. Meet Dillon Alfred, a standout wide receiver from Saraland High School, standing at 6’0” and weighing in at 175 pounds.

After his performance in the recent National Combine, Alfred has rightfully earned himself a spot in the 2024 U.S. Army Bowl game. The coaches at the combine couldn’t get enough of his skill and hard work. Fans in Frisco will soon follow suit.

“I had a great experience during camp being able to showcase my skills, meet other players and coaches, and having a chance to watch the Army Bowl game,” he said.

Despite being the focal point of opposing defenses during his junior year, Alfred showcased his skills with an impressive stat line—35 receptions, 586 yards, and 6 touchdowns in 12 games. His sophomore season at Gautier High School in Mississippi was nothing to scoff at either, with an astounding 57 receptions for 1196 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Alfred’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed nationally. He earned a 4-star rating on the 247Sports composite ranking. His efforts on the field have attracted offers from Division 1 powerhouses, including Ole Miss and Auburn. In his own words, “It shows me that D-1 coaches believe in you from the start, showing me who really cares and believes in you that would give me a chance.”

“I am feeling very excited leading into Spring ball,” Alfred explained. “I will continue to work hard to get my name and brand out on a national level through competition and hard work to reach 5-star status.”

As Alfred’s recruiting journey continued at the National Combine this past December, he left an indelible mark on coaches and evaluators alike. His standout performance was a testament to his dedication and skill that the coaches so quickly caught on to.

“I feel blessed, humbled, and appreciative to have the opportunity to perform in the U.S. Army Bowl game,” said Alfred. “It means a lot to me personally to see the accomplishment of my hard work and dedication.”

Lawrence Hopkins, one of the U.S. Army Bowl scouts, further emphasized Alfred’s ascent.
