Breaking down the top five most likely to teams to win the Super Bowl in 2025-26

The NFL season is now less than a month away, with the preseason in full swing. There are some interesting sleeper teams that could make a run this season, but five teams stand out on top when it comes to 2025-26 Super Bowl odds.

The Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles lead the pack all tied at +700. Close behind them is the Kansas City Chiefs at +850 who came one game short of three-peat, losing 40-22 to the Eagles last season. The Detroit Lions round out the group in fifth at +1000, well ahead of the San Francisco 49ers in sixth at +1900.

If you’re looking to place any Super Bowl futures for this season, there are numerous mobile betting apps available to you. Since 2000, only six of the 24 winning teams have had opening odds of greater than +2000. The 2017 Eagles are the only team to achieve this feat since 2012, winning with odds of +4000. With that being said, here is a breakdown of the current top five NFL teams.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills have been a playoff team for the past six seasons and just made it to the AFC Championship for the second time during that stretch – losing out to the Chiefs both times. They deserve to be co-favorites this season with reigning MVP Josh Allen leading their offence, fresh off a six-year $330 million contract extension. Buffalo focussed on improving their defense this offseason and solidifying their core by handing out contract extensions to multiple key players. They arguably have one of the top three defenses in the league, but they still have questions at the wide receiver position as Amir Cooper remains a free agent. Their biggest move was signing Josh Palmer, but a receiving group of Shakir, Coleman, Kincaid, and Palmer don’t exactly scream Super Bowl to me.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have missed the playoffs just once in the past seven years, making it as far as the AFC Championship in 2023-24 on the heels of an MVP season from Lamar Jackson. Baltimore’s biggest move this offseason was signing Ronnie Stanley to play left tackle and solidify their offensive line. They also added DeAndre Hopkins and extended Rashod Bateman, giving them two decent options at wide receiver behind Zay Flowers. They are solid across the board with Derrick Henry at running back, Mark Andrews at tight end, and a borderline top five defence. All of the pieces are in place for Baltimore to get over the hump this season by making their return to the Super Bowl for the first time since winning in 2012-13.

Philadelphia Eagles

There were numerous key subtraction on the defensive end for the Eagles this offseason, but they were set up well to combat this with in house replacements. They selected defenders with their top five draft choices and made some underrated additions such as Adoree Jackson at Cornerback, and Joshua Uche and Azeez Ojulari as edge rushers. The group will look a lot different, but they could be just as effective as they were last season. Combining one of the top defenses in the league with an offence that includes Jaylen Hurts, AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, and reigning Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley puts Philadelphia in an excellent spot to repeat as champions this season.

Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes has not been as dominant as he has in the past these last two seasons, partially due to the strength of the Chiefs offensive line and receiving corps. Travis Kelce’s production dropping off and Rashee Rice’s season ending injury both played key factors in Kansas City failing to three peat last season. Rice is expected to be healthy for Week 1 along with Xavier Worthy, giving Mahomes two excellent receiving options. Offensive tackle will likely remain the biggest issue for the Chiefs, and they will be looking for a bounce back season from Isiah Pacheco at running back. The team is far from perfect, but they are on one of the most dominant runs in NFL history, winning nine straight AFC West titles and reaching the Super Bowl in five of the last six seasons with three titles over that stretch. They still deserve to be amongst the favourites to win this season.

Detroit Lions

On paper the Lions roster looks extremely similar heading into the 2025-26 season. Losing their Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson and Defensive Coordinator Aaron Glenn to head coaching jobs is certainly cause for some concern, but their offense and defense should still both rank as borderline top five. Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam Laporta are insane weapons for veteran quarterback Jared Goff to have. Goff is coming off the best year of his career, finishing top five in MVP voting with a career best 111.8 passer rating.
