SDS Featured Athlete – Dylan Thomas
The Factor Emerges
When you talk about future stars in Texas high school football, don’t skip over Dylan “Factor” Thomas — a rising force in the Class of 2029. A 6’1” standout defensive back for the Iowa Colony Pioneers, Dylan plays with the confidence of a seasoned veteran and the hunger of a player who knows the journey is just beginning.

Already turning heads with a D1 offer from Texas State, a Junior Olympic All‑American title in track, and an invite to the Signing Day Sports National Combine on July 19, Dylan’s resume speaks for itself. But talk to him for five minutes and you’ll realize this: his game is just one part of what makes him special.
A Foundation Built on Family
For Dylan, greatness starts at home.
He proudly points to his two younger brothers as his biggest motivation:
- Drew “Dash” Thomas — a lightning-fast athlete with a motor that never stops
- Dawson “Mighty Mouse” Thomas — a smaller but fearless competitor who plays with unmatched heart
Their father, Dennis Thomas, a former athlete himself, has built a household of discipline, focus, and brotherhood. Dylan’s goal? Set the bar high for his siblings — not just in football, but in life.
“Everything I do, I do to show Dash and Mighty Mouse that the grind is worth it.”
A Rising Star in Every Sport
Dylan’s numbers speak for themselves:
- 6 interceptions in one day at a recent 7v7 tournament
- D1 football offer from Texas State
- Junior Olympic All-American in High Jump & 110m Hurdles
- Qualified for the Triple Jump & Long Jump in this summer’s Junior Olympics
Had to do my best impression of Travis Hunter this weekend. We only had nine players on the team so I had to go both ways had a lot of fun displaying my talent. I represent the class of 2029 what seat belts@MattGuerrieri @recruiting_ohio @OhioStateFB @On3Recruits @Rivals… pic.twitter.com/aAKqlMnwYT

He trains every single day — whether it’s strength, speed, or film study. Every rep has a purpose. Every drill is about growth. Every sprint is a step toward his future.
The Iowa Colony Effect
Dylan’s development is sharpened by the fast-rising football culture at Iowa Colony High School in Rosharon, TX.
The Pioneers football program launched in 2022 and quickly flipped the script from a 2–8 start to a 12–1 season in just their second year. Playing in 5A Division II, the team now competes at a high level, with a deep playoff run, elite facilities, and a strong identity centered around:
#DRIVE #BELIEVE #FAMILY
Dylan isn’t just part of that identity — he represents its future.
“Being a Pioneer means leading the way. That’s what I try to do — for my team, my brothers, and my future.”
Student-Athlete, All Around
Off the field, Dylan stays locked into his academics. A consistent A & B Honor Roll student, he’s proud of the discipline it takes to excel in the classroom.
“School comes first. If I can handle my business there, everything else falls in place.”
His balanced approach gives college coaches even more to be excited about.
Using Signing Day Sports to Get Seen
Dylan uses Signing Day Sports to manage his film, recruiting info, and coach outreach — all in one place.
He was referred to the platform by mentor JJ Kilgore, and he’s taken full advantage of the opportunity — already turning SDS exposure into interest and offers.
“SDS helped me stay ready and be seen. Now it’s about showing up.”
Looking Ahead
With a national combine appearance coming up, more offers on the horizon, and a whole community behind him, Dylan “Factor” Thomas is positioned to be one of the most exciting recruits in the Class of 2029.
His advice to other athletes chasing the dream?
“Work hard. Be respectful. And don’t ever skip school.”
Dylan is doing the work. And it’s paying off.
If you’re ready to build your future like he is — it starts at Signing Day Sports.
